Discover Nature’s Playground

Mammoth Cave offers an accessible and immersive adventure for families with children. As the most easily reached show cave in the area, it welcomes visitors of all abilities, with the first chamber wheelchair-accessible.

Families can embark on a self-guided exploration, equipped with an informative audio tour through provided MP3 players and headsets, allowing them to discover the cave’s majestic chambers at their own pace. The experience culminates in a leisurely stroll through the picturesque marri forest, alive with the melodies of whistling birds and vibrant displays of flora, making Mammoth Cave not just a cave visit but a complete nature experience for families to cherish.

Additionally, the cave holds historical significance as the site of one of Australia’s most significant paleontological digs, where visitors can marvel at the fossilized jawbone of a long-extinct giant marsupial species, preserving a glimpse into the region’s rich natural history for over 50,000 years.

  4. Can I take a backpack child carrier: Backpack child carriers are not permitted in the cave. This is to ensure the safety of yourself, your child and the preservation of the delicate cave decorations. Front baby carriers are permitted.
  5. Will I get claustrophobic: As you walk through the caves, there will be places where you are required to bend down a little, or turn to the side slightly to avoid bumping your head or shoulder, but most of the caverns are quite open. If in doubt, the best cave to visit is Mammoth Cave, with its huge open caverns and easy entrance, it tends to allay most people’s phobias.
