Discover Nature’s Playground

Mammoth Cave offers a fascinating natural time capsule, home to ancient fossil remains of long-extinct Megafauna, an immersive adventure for families with children. Families can embark on a self-guided exploration, equipped with an informative audio tour through provided MP3 players and headsets to discover the cave’s majestic chambers at your own pace.

Mammoth Cave offers a unique window into the past, over 10,000 fossils once accumulated inside the cave, many of these fossils were found to be remains of Australian Megafauna (giant animals) that became extinct around 46,000 years ago. When exploring this incredible cave system, you will come face-to-face with a 50,000-year-old ‘’zygomaturus’ jawbone embedded in the cave wall!

A visit to Mammoth Cave finishes with a winding walk through a beautiful marri forest. The trail is lined with flourishing green foliage, towering trees and wildflowers during winter and spring. Mammoth Cave is more than a cave – it is a complete nature experience.

FAQs

  1. Opening Hours: Daily 9am to 5pm, closed Christmas Day. Extended during holiday times,
  2. Car Parking: Ample parking on-site.
  3. What to Bring:  Comfortable walking shoes as there are many steps involved. Bring your camera and water. A light jacket is recommended for windier days.
  4. Can I take a backpack child carrier: Backpack child carriers are not permitted in the cave. This is to ensure the safety of yourself, your child and the preservation of the delicate cave decorations. Front baby carriers are permitted.
  5. Will I get claustrophobic: As you walk through the caves, there will be places where you are required to bend down a little, or turn to the side slightly to avoid bumping your head or shoulder, but most of the caverns are quite open. If in doubt, the best cave to visit is Mammoth Cave, with its huge open caverns and easy entrance, it tends to allay most people’s phobias.
  6. What do I do if I’m running late: Contact (08) 9757 7411 promptly and inform our staff of your situation. Depending on the type of tour you booked, guide availability, and weather conditions, we may be able to reschedule your tour. Please note that certain tours have limited flexibility and may not be able to accommodate late arrivals. Therefore, we strongly advise to plan ahead and arrive at least 5 minutes before your tour starts.
