Intro Surf Session
$70 – $200
Who wants to “Get their Surf on”?
This 2 hour introduction to surf session is for families with teens who just want to jump on a board and experience the thrill of surfing. This is a great session for first timers or someone who has done a few lessons and just needs a bit more help with the basics. The intro lesson is conducted in the white wash, in waist deep water so its safe for anyone.
If you want to “Get your surf on” you will arrive at the beach in your boardies frothing to
get in the water after a quick safety brief. You won’t be ready to join the pro’s at Straddie but we do guarantee we will do everything we can to get you standing up and catching a wave in the white wash in the first 2 hour session.
Book or gift a SPARK POP® experience and support Healthy Planet. Local Jobs. Active Kids.
-The family lesson is for parents themselves and would be willing to sacrifice a perfect wave if there was a child in the firing line.
-This class is restricted to a max of 4 participants per instructor with any classes that have children in them.
- How do we get to the lesson? If you have your own car you are best to drive to the Spit as the parking is free all day and you can stay and enjoy the best beach on the Gold Coast. If you require public transport, the bus terminates at Seaworld so we run a shuttle service from several pick-up locations. See our pick-ups list in our About tab.
- What happens if the weather is bad? Conditions at the Spit are generally very good for beginner lessons. However, if we feel that conditions may be too rough for our participants, we will reschedule for a different date or refund your money if you are not able to reschedule.
- What do I need to bring? On the beach you will only be needing swimmers and a big desire to surf and have fun. We will provide you with a wetsuit, rash shirt, sunscreen and of course … a surfboard. It is a good idea though to wear thongs (flip flops) to walk on the sand and a towel for after the lesson. We do have secure onsite storage for your belongings.
- Can I use my own board, rashie or wet suit? When joining a group lesson, it is a Gold Coast City Council requirement that each participant is wearing the surf schools’ clearly identifiable logo and the instructor must also be identifiable in a different colour – this is so the beach lifeguards know you are all together and that the surf school is abiding by the requirements for instructor to participant ratio. It is also a Gold Coast City Council’s safety requirement that the participants are given approved “soft safe” surf boards with flexible fins and no fiberglass in its composition. If your board fits these requirements you can use it.Using your own wetsuit is absolutely fine provided our rash shirt is over the top. If however you are doing a private lesson you can use your own board.
