About

Unearth the past these School Holidays

Step into the shoes of a junior archaeologist and uncover the hidden stories beneath the surface at Bankfoot House Heritage Precinct.

Embark on an exciting hands-on adventure at the Bankfoot House Archaeology Dig during the winter school holidays. This free, interactive experience invites young explorers to delve into the rich history of the Sunshine Coast by uncovering artefacts and piecing together clues from the past.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Glass House Mountains, Bankfoot House is the oldest surviving residence in the region, established in 1868 as a vital stopover for Cobb & Co coaches traveling between Brisbane and the Gympie goldfields. The property remained in the same family for 134 years, offering a unique glimpse into the lives of early settlers and their enduring legacy.
