About

Brisbane’s Family Favourite for Fun and Playtime

New Farm Park is Brisbane’s most beloved family destination, welcoming over 18,000 visitors each week. With 37 acres of open fields and shady trees, it’s the perfect spot for families to relax, enjoy a picnic, or kick a ball around. On weekends, you’ll see families gathered beneath the trees, enjoying quality time together, barbecuing, and playing in the park’s vast green spaces.

A highlight for families is the New Farm Park Playground. Nestled beneath a maze of towering fig trees, the playground is a haven for kids, offering wooden forts, slides, swings, and spinning equipment. Designed for adventurous play, it’s perfect for children of all ages, with plenty of climbing, exploring, and imaginative fun.

In addition to playtime, families can explore the Jan Powers Farmers Markets on Saturday mornings, located in front of the Brisbane Powerhouse. Grab fresh produce or a bite to eat before heading back to the park. With the riverfront boardwalk connecting New Farm Park to the city and the nearby Brisbane Powerhouse offering live performances, it’s an all-around family-friendly destination for relaxation and entertainment.

Prior to European settlement, New Farm was covered with bush and dotted with shallow lagoons. Following the founding of the Moreton Bay convict settlement the land initially became a farm before sub-division in 1843. The parkland had a racecourse from 1846 until 1913, when Brisbane City Council acquired the land to create a park. New Farm Park opened in 1919.
