About

Home to the world’s largest processional dragon and two centuries of Chinese-Australian stories—right in the heart of Chinatown.

Step into the Museum of Chinese Australian History and watch jaws drop at Melbourne’s famous Dai Loong (Millennium Dragon) winding through the 5-storey Victorian warehouse. It's just the beginning of a captivating journey through Chinese-Australian heritage—where ancient symbols meet impactful stories in one unforgettable space.

Wander through seven levels (yes, two count tiny alcoves!), encountering immersive exhibitions like One Million Stories—which traces a diverse 200-year journey of migration, resilience, and community across Australia—and Finding Gold, a basement recreation of the Gold Rush experiences many Chinese workers faced. Along the way, kids can marvel at antique costumes, traditional textiles, tools, and even century-old immigration documents. Tours and occasional hands-on workshops offer even more chances to connect history with your tween’s or teen’s curiosity.

This isn’t a quiet glass-case museum it’s a chance for families to story-hop through time. With a dragon that’s longer than a football field, personal tales that echo across generations, and exhibitions mixing immersive visuals with real-life artefacts, the experience sparks questions, conversations, and discovery. For families with tweens and teens, it offers a meaningful, screen-free way to dive into identity, migration, and belonging, and maybe spot echoes of their own stories too.

✨ Step into a world where the stories are bigger than the dragon itself—plan your family visit to the Museum of Chinese Australian History today! Make it a grid-photo win and a memory that teaches.
