About

Let your child explore the fascinating stories behind Australia's banknotes and create their very own banknote design!

Looking for an engaging and creative activity these school holidays? Join this hands-on workshop inspired by the NAA's latest exhibition In real life: inventors, innovators and opportunists.

Explore the remarkable Australians featured on banknotes and uncover the stories behind their achievements. Why do they appear on Australia's currency? What did they invent, create or change?

After exploring these fascinating stories, children will step into the role of designer, creating their own Australian banknote. Who will they feature — a historic trailblazer, a personal hero, or even themselves?

Using colour, symbols and creative flair, they'll bring their ideas to life in this interactive session that blends history, storytelling and design.

The National Archives is committed to the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
