A Magical Journey to Curtis Falls: Where Nature Takes Center Stage

Embark on a captivating walk through Tamborine Mountain’s Curtis Falls, where the enchanting beauty of nature surrounds you at every step. As you journey through a wet eucalypt forest, beneath towering, flooded gums, and into the cool embrace of lush rainforest, keep your eyes peeled for the striking crow’s nest and staghorn ferns that decorate the canopy. The intricate beauty of the strangler fig is another wonder that will leave you in awe.

As you approach, the first glimpse of Curtis Falls will take your breath away. Whether it’s a roaring torrent or a gentle cascade, the waterfall tumbles gracefully over towering basalt columns—formed by the area’s rich volcanic past—into a serene rock pool below. Look closely and you may spot turtles basking on the fallen logs or catch sight of fish and eels swimming in the pool’s clear waters. If you’re lucky, you might even witness the elusive platypus in its natural habitat.

For a touch of nighttime magic, return after dark to see the cliffs surrounding the falls light up with the soft glow of glow-worms. Just be sure to follow the signs and respect the protected area to preserve this magical ecosystem for future visitors.
