With 929 kilograms of gold extracted during its heyday, it’s a place rich in stories and treasure.
Gear up with a hard hat and descend 61 meters underground on the Mine Experience Tour. Journey through a maze of tunnels, uncover the tough conditions miners endured, see traditional mining equipment in action, and even spot real gold in its natural form. This 75-minute tour is wheelchair accessible and ideal for children aged three and up.
Back on the surface, marvel at the towering 22-metre poppet head and explore heritage-listed buildings like the Blacksmith’s Shop, Carbide Lamp Room, and the impressive Engine Room.

- Opening Hours: Daily 9.30am to 4.30pm
- Do I need to make a booking: Reservations are highly recommended for all underground tours and are essential for groups of 10 or more.
- Car Parking: Car, bus and disabled parking is available at the rear of Central Deborah Gold Mine in Creek Street North. Additional parking is also available across the creek on Creek Street South.
- When do I need to arrive: Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour time.
- What should I wear: It is an average of 14 degrees underground, don’t forget to bring a jacket. And wear closed in shoes.
- Can I bring my dog: Yes, Central Deborah Gold Mine is a dog-friendly venue. However only certified assistance animals may venture underground.
- Accessibility: Actively welcomes people with access needs. Accept the Companion Card. Advise tour guides of the access needs of guests at the time of booking (includes pick up and drop off requirements). Caters for people who use a wheelchair. Have step free outdoor pathways (includes picnic areas, barbecues and shelters). Have a step free main entrance to the building and/or reception area (includes ramps or slopes with a maximum gradient of 1:14, otherwise are too steep for wheelchairs). Have an accessible public toilet which is unlocked. Have at least one wheelchair accessible parking space with wheelchair accessible signage clearly displayed (International standards are 3200mm wide x 2500 mm high). Welcomes and assists people who have challenges with learning, communication, understanding and behaviour. (includes people with autism, intellectual disability, Down syndrome, acquired brain injury (ABI), dyslexia and dementia). A quiet space is available at the venue/ facility.

Safety Requirements
- To ensure your safety and maintain a positive experience all visitors descending underground need to wear flat enclosed footwear.
- It is a safety requirement that everyone who descends underground must wear a hard hat at all times. Headwear which obstructs the hard hat from being properly fitted cannot be worn under the hard hats. We have smaller hard hats available for children.
