About

From Moon rocks to massive dishes—step into the heart of Australia’s connection to the cosmos.

Just 40 minutes from Canberra, the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (also known as the Canberra Space Centre) invites families to gaze skyward from a place where Earth's most distant whispers are received. This extraordinary site is part of NASA’s Deep Space Network and is home to awe-inspiring antenna dishes that communicate with spacecraft exploring Mars, Jupiter—and even beyond.

Wander among giant radio dishes—including the 70-metre DSS-43, the largest steerable parabolic antenna in the Southern Hemisphere, standing taller than a 22-storey building. Inside the Visitor Centre, delight in hands-on exhibits: you’ll find a 3.8 billion-year-old Moon rock brought back by Apollo 11, authentic space hardware, spacecraft models, films on cosmic discoveries, and even displays of astronaut food. It’s science up close and out of this world!

This isn't just a museum it’s where the universe connects with our everyday lives. From the colossal dishes that whisper commands to the Voyager probes, to tangible bits of lunar history under glass, it’s a place where curiosity meets the cosmos. Families leave inspired, fueled by wonder and shared discovery.

Ready to embark on an unforgettable journey to the stars—without leaving Australia? Gather the family and head to the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, where giant dishes, Moon rocks, and science collide to spark joy and wonder in young explorers everywhere.
