About

Before fidget spinners, there were whirly gigs. Turns out kids have always needed something to do with their hands.

Pioneer children didn't have toy stores. They had sticks, scraps and imagination — and they made it work.

This school holidays, Bankfoot House invites kids of all ages to step back in time and try it for themselves. Make your own dolly peg and whirly gig — the original handmade toys — in a hands-on session that is equal parts history lesson and creative play. No kits. No instructions on a screen. Just making something from scratch and the quiet satisfaction of holding what you built.

And while the kids are busy discovering that old-school fun hits differently, caregivers get free tea or coffee and what might honestly be one of the best mountain views on the Sunshine Coast.

That's a proper school holiday morning right there.

A relaxed, welcoming experience with no bookings and no fuss — just drop in and make something.
