Bringing Sustainable Play to Brisbane’s Green Heart Fair
Brisbane families are encouraged to immerse themselves in a day of eco-friendly exploration at the upcoming Green Heart Fair, hosted by Brisbane City Council on Sunday, May 26th.
At this year’s fair, SPARK POP, in collaboration with Little Change Creators, aims to illuminate the joys of sustainable play and gifting for children. Young attendees can engage in a variety of activities at the SPARK POP booth, including eco-friendly colouring, toy trading, and exploring sustainable gift options.
One of the highlights of the event is the Toy Replay initiative, where children are invited to bring pre-loved toys for exchange. Any degraded toys that are no longer functional will be collected and recycled through SPARK POP’s partnership with TerraCycle Zero Waste Box™, transforming them into new, eco-conscious products.
Families can find SPARK POP in the Green Home Living area, located opposite the Main Stage, amidst a backdrop of engaging activities and entertainment for all ages. Additionally, every child who visits the stand will receive a SPARK POP E-Gift Card, redeemable towards their next weekend or holiday adventure.
Founder of SPARK POP, Melissa Soutar, emphasises the positive impact of sustainable toy practices on both children and parents. “Curating toys in the home offers numerous benefits, fostering resourcefulness, creativity, and imaginative play in children, while reducing clutter-related overwhelm for parents,” says Mrs Soutar.
The Green Heart Fair promises a day filled with free native plants, live entertainment, artisanal markets, food trucks, and a plethora of engaging activities for children, including screenings of The Lorax, face painting, Kokedama workshops, Wild Rangers Wildlife and much more.
Join SPARK POP and consider how you can stop toying with our planet during the Green Heart Fair on Sunday, May 26th, from 9 am to 3 pm at Gilchrist Ave, Herston. Admission is free.
