1.  Singing Chef’s and Tub-Thumping Orchestra

Viva La Musica Productions is thrilled to present a Lord Mayor’s Children’s Program performance of ‘The Singing Chefs and the Tub-thumping Orchestra,’ designed for children ages 5-12. Follow the action-packed musical adventure as 10-year-old Mollie, aspiring to be on kids’ Master Chef, Grandad Oski, who collects everything, and dynamo Chef Luigi create a fabulous orchestra from everyday kitchen objects. Mollie and Chef Luigi prepare a surprise 70th birthday celebration for Grandad Oski at their famous Italian restaurant, but disaster strikes, and Mollie and her friends save the day with The Tub-thumping Orchestra.

Featuring recycled materials and original music by Tsoof Baras and Rhonda Davidson-Irwin, alongside percussion group Sound Struck, this performance promises loud, tub-thumping fun. Join in the excitement at this free event, part of the Lord Mayor’s Children’s Program, produced by Viva La Musica. Accessible seating is available.

2. Park Play

Experience the ultimate blend of sporty thrills and creative spills at Park Play, a free kids’ program in Victoria Park! From June 24-26 and July 1-3, 9am–1pm, kids of all ages can dive into a world of sports and crafts, from soccer showdowns and egg and spoon races to crafting masterpieces and breakdancing workshops. Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a craft connoisseur, or a dance dynamo, there’s endless fun for everyone.

No bookings are required – simply show up and join the fun at Victoria Park, entry via Gilchrist Avenue, Herston. Perfect for kids aged 3-12, Park Play is brought to you by Brisbane City Council. For more information, visit the Victoria Park page.

3. Cosy Crochet Club

Prepare to get cosy with MoB’s Cosy Crochet Club every day of the school holidays. Inspired by Rearranged: Art of the Flower artist Millie Radovich, drop into the studio where you’ll learn how to crochet your very own friendship bracelet out of beads and special flowers made by Millie herself.

*Beads and crochet kits are free of charge. Additional crochet flower accessories are available for $5 while stocks last. Suitable for ages 6 years and up.

4. Cross River Rail Experience Centre

For an interactive and educational experience, visit the Cross River Rail Experience Centre during the Winter school holidays.

Explore the future of Brisbane’s transportation and infrastructure projects through engaging exhibits and activities. Choose from a range of hands-on activities including Bountiful Blooms, Macrame Madness, Line of Roos, Bee Green, Coding Ozobots and more, offering something for every member of the family to enjoy. 5. Daisy Hill Koala Centre

Located in the southern suburb of Brisbane, Daisy Hill Koala Centre is a free and unique place to learn about koalas and their conservation.

Suitable for all ages, the centre offering two different level viewing boardwalks weaving through the eucalypt forest to spot the resident koalas from. Time your visit around the daily Wildlife Officer talks held at 11am and 2pm when fresh leaf will be provided to the koalas, one of their most active times.
