Get ready for a golden-hour adventure in the Perth Hills — made for teens (and their grown-ups!) who love wildlife, nature, and exploring together.

This special sunset edition of the Kaarakin Wildlife Experience brings together up-close animal encounters and a peaceful bushland hike at the most magical time of day.

You'll begin at the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and releasing WA’s endangered black cockatoos. Here you’ll:
🖤 Hear powerful rescue stories from the team who care for these incredible birds.
🦜 Meet resident cockatoos, cheeky kangaroos, emus, and even curious peacocks.
🐕 Learn about Australia’s dingoes and their role in protecting our ecosystems.
🌿 Step inside Jack’s Interactive Aviary, where friendly black cockatoos might land right on you for a gumnut snack!

Then we’ll lace up our boots for a gentle 3km sunset hike through nearby bushland. Along the way, enjoy sweeping views over Perth city, the sounds of the evening birds, and the colours of the sky shifting from gold to pink. We’ll pause mid-way for a light snack and a chance to soak in the serenity from a granite outcrop — the perfect end to an afternoon well spent.
